I love the selection and staff is helpful. It would be nice if the two women (owners/managers) were nicer to customers and their staff. It's a little off-putting, but other than them, it's all good!

This is by far my favorite decorative store in Orange County! I literally searched every store in the County for decorative cords and found this spot to have the largest variety in size and color. Additionally the sewing utensil selection blows others out of the water. If it were not enough to have a variety this store also likely is the biggest fabric selection available in the area! I was blown away with the options and for a warehouse of so much stuff they are ALWAYS clean, orderly and the customer service is on point. I would think that would be enough but then they pleasantly surprise you with the most cost efficient prices around and the quality is reliable! Now I don't shop anywhere else for my textile needs.

First of all... I love that this is a local family run business!!!
When I am in need of a large amount of fabric (10+ yards) and dont want to travel to LA Fashion/Fabric district this is the next best place. Its a bit of a drive from where I live, but worth it. Huge selection of fabric and good selection of notions. Prices are much more reasonable than Jo-Anns Fabrics. Lots of wovens & knits, lots of solids, and prints, lots of quilters fabrics.
Its definitely worth a visit!!!

2024: Run, don't walk to M&L Fabrics! It's worth the drive. The flatfold section of quilting cottons is unparalleled from ANY store I've been to across the U.S. They offer flatfolds for $3.98/yr (cotton) and $4.98/yd (flannel) - most of which are Robert Kaufman and Riley Blake. They purchase end runs from the manufacturers so their flatfolds are not an exact match of what's on the market currently. It's important to be on their mailing list to know when they receive fresh shipments.

There's plenty of "on the bolt" fabric, which has far more floor space than the flatfolds. The back half of the main room is usually priced at $5.98/yd, and the front, more current fabrics usually are $12.98/yd. If you venture into the back room (near the restroom), you'll find upholstery fabric and vinyl in flatfolds, along with other garment sewing things.

2018: I haven't been to M&L for some time and went in for "just one thing." Their fabric selection is outstanding (mostly organized by design company). I walked out with about 15 cuts of fabric - my favorite being mason jars of drinks! Their trim section is usually 20% off. And their off-the-bolt flat fold fabrics are a veritable bargain. Best place to find the fuzzy/furry fabrics too. A typical yard of quality cotton quilting fabric (not batiks) is $10.95/yd. Little did I know I would get a $20 gift certificate for spending a certain amount. An unexpected blessing!
